Wow, i actually can't wait to get my hands on one of these!!!
Hell yeah, I'm going crazy too, I Want it. There's so much thigs inside the little psp, that we even think, DAM how's that possible... :)
But I will wait for a price down.
ps: The first PSP suck, i dont like it and I didn't bought it, but the new psp with two sticks, and kind of ps3 graphics it will surely rock!
Holy awesomeness! They had me @ CPU: ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-A9 core (4 core)Also, if they have Monster Hunter as a launch game, I'll be set cause that's all I need until I get bored. That game never gets old. It really eats up your time. Most of the announced launch titles are good but not so much on the replayability except if you're aiming for trophies. haha.
Yeah, but let's hope Capcom decides to put Wifi/3G support with Monster Hunter; none of this ad-hoc Kai bullshit.
Let's hope that's the case. In fact I am also relying on the GPU water blocks, they are last generation and until something new comes up everything should work perfectly, I already have big plans for it.
Wait, a multi-use port? Does this mean I actually will have to buy an accessory to plug in headphones?
Nah it's got a stereo jack... "Headset jack (Stereo mini jack) (for Audio (Stereo Out/Mono In))"
Does stereo mini jack mean those tiny ones or normal ones (3.5mm).
it means normal headphones, as opposed to what a guitar uses.
Hm, that's what I thought from earlier pictures, but just because it said "Multi-use port for (all the connectors), I was afraid it was taking the route that the GBA SP took. :P
Multi-use port (for USB data communication, DC IN, Audio (Stereo Out /Mono In), Serial data communication), Headset jack (Stereo mini jack) (for Audio (Stereo Out/Mono In)) No i dont think so!
And did I hear correctly that this can run Android games too? Would that mean there's a Linux kernel in there somewhere or would Sony really go to the trouble of porting Dalvik only to possibly incur the wrath of Oracle? Looking forward to how the programming experience is for this kit!
it cannot run android games... this doesn't even run the android os. you are thinking of the xperia play (ps phone)
about the battery? how many hours can psp vita last?
They say 4-5 hours....
I wonder why they didn't go with a Lithium Polymer battery since those seem to be all the rage and have more juice in the same size.
Lithium ion batteries have a greater energy capacity than lithium polymer batteries, so in devices that have higher current requirements, lithium ion batteries are preferred. In applications where size is paramount, lithium polymer is the choice. Lithium ion batteries are also cheaper to manufacture than lithium polymer batteries, so when cost is a factor, lithium ion is the choice.Read more: Lithium Polymer Vs. WTF!!!LOL!!!! a quad core cpu
The GPU is a 4 Core system as well."SGX543MP4+" The Plus indicates it's a newer model than the regular SGX543MP. This version is Down clocked as you can see "543" is actually the GPU Core @ 543MHz but during the release of the PS Vita Sony announced a downgrade, seeing as they are using the same Chipset it appears to only be a software downgrade of the actual GPU.Why is this important? The Xbox 360's GPU only runs at 500MHz... and this thing's portable...
MHz isn't everything. I wouldn't even give it creedance for factoring in half of the performance value of the chip. Optimized instruction pathways and shader cores are key for GPUs.
It is awesome, isn't it?
that even beats my laptop, which is a midrange computer
Great specs, but I'd like to know the GPU clock speed, because as Imagine Technologies states:"At 200MHz core frequency an SGX543MP4 (four cores) will deliver 133 million polygons per second and fill rates in excess of 4Gpixels/sec". That means XBOX-1's GPU-like performance in your hands! I really would like to get one of these!
to hell with Xbox 1, the screenshots of Vita games suggest that they will be comparable to Xbox 360
When the PSP came out it was more powerful compared to this, IMHO. Think about this: PSP was supposed to be a portable PS2, now is this supposed to be a portable ps3?
The PS2 was (and is) still more 'powerful' than the PSP in both CPU and GPU. The PSP has a lower resolution than the PS2 and therefore can do more with the pixels it does display.
ps2 cpu 300mhzpsp cpu 333mhzis not just about specs, is about the games...
True about the faster CPU clock speed on the PSP (although it was launched at 233MHz if i remember correctly), but Kyle is right that the PS2 is more powerful overall compared to the PSP.But one component isnt enough to make something more powerful. I.e the PS Vita has more total RAM than the PS3, but the PS3 still remains more powerful.
The CPU speed is only a tiny aspect. The PS2 used one processor that had, I believe, six co-processors (or something similar; essentially one chip for several components). The GPU is probably the most important part when you're trying to compare specs - just because the PSP has a clock speed of +33 doesn't mean it can run PS2 games faster than the PS2 could.
Considering PS2's GPU was able to output Gran Turismo 4 and Another one of Dolbys Games up to 1080i.The PSP can't even output over 480P/i.... The PS Vita SGX543MP(4)+ Is able to output 1080P Content without breaking a sweat.
Was expecting more RAM. The latest smartphones today have 1-2GB. My old iPod Touch has 512MB of ram.
Samsung Galaxy S2 has 1GB of RAM, but that device is about twice as expencive as the PS Vita. Keep in mind that the PS Vita is only $249 :) I doubt that you will find a new smartphone with 1-2GB of RAM for that price.
Nope, the newest iPod touch has 256.
Keep in mind this is a games console not a smartphone. 512MB is also present in PS3 and Xbox 360
No internal memory?
512 MB
That is the RAM not internal storage like their question was about. No this isn't going to be like the go with internal storage.
SIM card slot (3G/Wi-Fi model only) - What is this sim card for cellphone or something?
to allow use of 3G Data, so web browsing and other things you would do on your phone without wifi
So i can send message just like a regular cellphone?
what you people talking about the sim is from wirelless modem
the SIM will provide access to cellular data. so simply, you will be able to access the internet from anywhere that you can get cell phone reception
3G SIM Card. It uses ATT, so it needs a SIM card for its data connection.
lol but where to insert pro xD
Does someone knows how much will Vita weigh?
more than a psp1000
not so badass to me. why do they abondon mspd?
Don't know, but personally I liked the memory sticks. I have a 16GB one for my PSP.
But is it taking SD or micro SD cards
Neither. Sony like their own proprietary memory stick formats. It will probably take M2 cards
