PSP Firmware 6.60 Released
Coinciding with the release of PS3 Firmware 3.70, Sony has released a minor update for PSP -- PSP Firmware 6.60 -- which is said to patch some1's 6.39 kernel exploit ... and that's about it.
The good news is, if you're following neur0n, you'll see he's already made some progress -- new tags, new keys ... he even posted this picture:
All I can say is: Took you long enough, Sony!

It doesn't matter what they call it, if the sole purpose was to patch an exploit and someone else in a matter of hours manages to already break into it - it's pretty much Game Over.

Some1's kernel exploit is blocked as well as the Fake_NP trick used to sign iso's.... That's the new features. All security updates. And I read somewhere about a possible psn ban screen located in the firmware. Wonder what they could be using that for?
It really is annoying when Sony releases an update that doesn't really do anything worthwhile to the PSP.
Okay this is what I'm going to do and what everyone should do, because the psp scene was dead a few weeks ago scratch that its been dead for months. now what we should do is upgrade to ofw 6.60 and find an old umd somewhere about the house and play it!!!! for old times sake and if your a pspgo owner grab a demo or purchased game and play it!!!!! and don't worry by weeks end we'll hear (6.60 as been patched and then 6.60 pro) and shit!!!! and then the scenes dead again!!!! and then we can go back to pissing and moaning there is nothing NEW coming for psp and why i did i buy this crap!!!! and then your back to downloading iso's and act like nothing happened (but seriously that is what im gonna do) Peace!!!
Dude I stopped updating my PSP after 6.35. Why? Well because if you don't play online then there is no reason for updating. What you are suggesting is likely to have someone out of luck if they don't make a 6.60 pro. I remember how long the wait was for 6.35 pro. Why the heck would I do that again? I'm not that bored bro. As a psp owner from last year I have been more than pleased with my purchase and the collection of underrated games on the platform. A shame we can't all feel the same way.
Why update if there is nothing of value in 6.60 OFW.

PSP hacking is like an intense game of whack-a-mole now. New update (mole) pops up, hacker smacks it in the face and hacks it straight away. If only it was this easy for the PS3 hackers.
Aww, Sony is still trying..Hey Greg,Apparently, the 6.60 update is basically a security update, according to several other sources, it says that it permeantly patched all known exploits, as well as a implementation of a BAN system on the PSN, that is..if PSN recongizes ur psp is built with CFW, it bans your psp's mac adress, and therefore banning your psp from PSN.(but of course you can change your mac adress..but what if it reads off of some other file? ..-.-)
so far from what I've noticed, at least earlier, I can still get on PSN on 6.39 ME, so i don't see why I would update to this anyways....
If only SONY could add Netflix to the OFW 6.60, it would be shweet.!!! Or maybe someone could create one? :)
6.60!? Nah! My PSP 2001 yet in 5.50GEN
with 6.xx cfw you still are able to go on psn, so theres no need to update, im still running 6.39 me 9.2,a and i still was able to download lbp psp on psn and play online, so no need to update :)

Custom Firmware 6.60 Beta 2 is available via Neur0ns Twitter. =) I've been testing it some this morning.
still able to go online on LBP psp, altough i yesterday had something weird going on: i couldnt connect to psn, just like when psn got hacked, it said managment on the server, but i think it was normal, i was able to connect today anyways, still tought sony started patching those intern things in those pro and me cfws on psn. think i'll update when neuron has his me cfw compactible for 6.60, to, well... idk
