[WIP] Kernel Exploit Found and 6.20 TN (HEN) to be Released
Breathing a little life back into the scene is Total_Noob, well known and respected PSP hacker / developer, who has claimed to discover a kernel exploit in PSP firmware 6.20. Yessir. Total_Noob is currently working on 6.20 TN, which behaves like HEN. Remember HEN? It's a homebrew enabler unlike HBL. HEN remains active & resident in memory leaving you able to launch homebrew directly from the XMB after HEN's initial execution, which appears to be done through HBL.
The video demos the kernel exploit; though it isn't that clear. You can see Total_Noob executes something from an HBL menu and the screen flashes purple near the end. That purple flash indicates the exploit was successful. No mention of whether or not firmwares > 6.20 are exploitable by the same means.
This all seems very promising, and with a kernel exploit, the possibilities are nearly endless. Perhaps soon we'll see fully hacked PSP-3000s and PSPgos! Total_Noob is aiming to release 6.20 TN before Christmas. So whatever you do -- do not update past 6.20 -- if you haven't already.

grate job man thank god i did not upgraded ....Finally The My PSP will be of use.....
All my psp 3000 with 6.20 was good for was Socom 3 with mic use. and my Spanish coach, speech playback umd.
I like seeing how the psp homebrew/hacking community is pushing forward even though Sony keeps being a bitch good work :D

i think this is just a trick. he change in hbl config that any homebrew will comeback directly to xmb if not loaded propelly, he write some text program that just shutsdown and comeback directly to the xmb. Sorry if my post is not clear im still learning.

Oh thank God, Good to see the PSP hack team make such a strong comeback. It suffered quite a devastating blow when we were told that HBL got shut down, especially when they were making such great progress. Can't wait, I'm sure I'm not the only one that had a strange affinity towards the PSPGo. I liked it for it's compact nature and improved screen quality, though the buttons were a little cramped and the shoulder buttons were too close to the system but it had internal memory. Plus it fit into the pocket nicely and had blue tooth. That could lead to some really cool hacks and also that "piggy backing ability" for wireless conectivity. It has a lot of potential that can only come from the brilliant world of PSP Homebrew.

I have psp 3k with prometheus v2, what do you think, can i use iso and hbl to use this exploit later? Point is that does HBL work with iso and 5.03 fw?

I think he load an hen installer or something, and the purple screen show its installtion sucessed and its hen on firmware now!!!!! Via hbl, note: its just a guess :)

ChickHEN started out loading homebrews without a loader then people started downgrading using ChickHEN i hope this will be the same.

Then whats the point of this?.HBL = homebrew.Kernel exploit = custom firmware = play iso games from internet.I mean, Hen enables homebrew, but i think what everyone really want is to play psp games downloaded from internet. If was only homebrew everyone would be happy with HBL.

Well HEN's can have full homebrew compatibility and can allow plugins, ctf themes, etc. also it stays active till you shut off your psp. so just keep in sleep mode.
No ISO loader from Total Noob...Remember that...But he was kind enough so he has in plan to build downgrading app to downgrade to 5.03...SO BE thankfull...

Its just that im quite new and don't understand most of the terms.So i thought "if hackers keep looking for kernel exploits even with HBL then it must be for play pirated games".Oh?. So the hacker said that with this exploit it would be possible to downgrade from 6.20 to 5.03 and that he will add taht option to what he is releasing?.Sorry for the noob questions but from what i saw on forums it is not possible to downgrade from 6.20 or 6.00+ so...its quite confusing for someone who doesn't know much about psp firmwares and that.
a full kernel vuln allows editing of flash and downgrader to be created. Remember, he said he'll think about it, not that he would :)But yes, most people only want kernel exploit for piracy :(

once youve load the hen. you can now load homebrew application to downgrade ur system. Then if ur not satisfied. F%%% yourself to upgrade to the latest ofw.

first of all PSP 3000 5.03 is NOT fuly hackable. however HEN is better than HBL.
There is a reason why people have always been asking for a way to run ISO's, but I'm not sure everyone gets the reason why. We're in the midst of a financial crisis, and people don't have money. We're not cheapskates. Also, do not automatically assume that each and every one of us is American. We have even less money than you might think. I personally WANT to support the developers who deserve it, but I don't HAVE enough money to support them! Most of the times not even the ones I love! That's where "piracy" comes in. Please understand that "piracy" is an essential part of society. We're not all the same. Thanks.
