Nevermind 3.50 OE, 3.51 OE Is Coming!
As suggested by some, it has now been officially announced that Dark_AleX is scrapping development of 3.50 Open Edition (OE) and moving straight to 3.51 OE.
Also mentioned is the discovery of "p9660.prx" in the latest 3.50 & 3.51 firmwares. Reportedly it's an official ISO loader created by Sony to load encrypted ISOs off the memory stick. Say whaaaaat?! This is probably the best explanation...
In here is a good question and the assumptions on the subject are on the way. Most probable gives as explanation that Sony will propose to play with downloaded PSP games via its network PSN. Would the era of the GOD (Game one Demand) be on the way?
So what's the deal? Well, here's another quotable quote...
D-A and Mathieulh has informed us that they will soon patch the module np9660.prx discovered in firmware 3.50 and 3.51 so that you'll be allowed the use the loader on unencrypted ISO !!! The advantages of this exploit, savings improving the autonomy of your PSP, namely: battery, UMD drive, etc…

use 3.50 downgrader
download FW 3.50, then downgrade
Download 3.50, upgrade, then use the 3.50 downgrader. You need Lumines, btw.

Just read, the intro says, that there is an ISO loader included that they want to patch so that it does load normal ISOs.

Gut ist hier ein anderer zitierfähiger Anführungsstrich… D-A und Mathieulh hat uns informiert, daß sie bald das Modul ausbessern np9660.prx, das in Mikroprogrammaufstellung 3.50 und 3.51, damit dir, entdeckt wird dem Gebrauch die Ladevorrichtung auf unencrypted ISO!! erlaubt wirst! Die Vorteile dieser Großtat, Sparungen, welche die Autonomie deines PSP, nämlich verbessern: Batterie, UMD Antrieb, ETC… Ehrfürchtig!

Itl still be running oe just a higher firmware version oe with a hacked loader...ofc on the assumption that everyone here only uses oe to play legit backups of their games then your correct theres no difference.. exept i bet sony will charge people for an iso version of a game they already own on umd....

Sooner rather than later. My bet is friday next week (7.6.2007) and it is not based on anything else than my own feeling. I admire all work and amazing progress of homebrew software developers, I wish I can do what they can. DAX is a superstar, no doubt about that. I wish you can buy his poster.

or sony is trying to screw us over thinking its somethign we think but accually to do something that will screw us up so we get error messages? its obviusly a trick that they gonna put in new games so the new game isos wont work
thats a fucking good point, i would suggest adding the official sony iso loader as an option in the recovery menu flash space allowing, just in case ;-)

Hmm... These hackers are just working to hard. Let's help them to screw us over, by making an ISO loader that fixes their mistakes.
Im thinking of two things, #1 maybe sony is planig to release a firmware with some sort of patch, so when it is turned into OE and instaled in your psp it will mess up your psp memory or #2 the guys that make the official firmwares are hakers.(that last ones not good for our friend SONY)

SWEET but i'll wait to see if anyone has issues with 3.51 OE. I dont know about sony's iso loader??? I think D_A should make it a option in recovery.........and keep his there. I had no issues with 340 OE-A using iso's, cso's.........
If some1 made an app to patch unencrypted ISO's to make them run on 3.51's ISO loader then we wouldn't need to downgrade etc. I'll always stick with OE though! Imagine that - EVERYONE will be able to load an ISO! (I doubt there's CSO support in 3.51 lol)

That feature is in version 3.50 so this 3.51 OE version should have it.
