PSPhone!
This is one of the coolest hacks I've witnessed in a long time - providing it is indeed fact and not speculation, of course. Lior over in the qj forums has apparently designed & developed a phone chip for the PSP, thus the name "PSPhone." Though currently unable to make outgoing calls, this contraption is able to receive incoming calls, and display the current signal strength! PSPhone is also capable of communicating over both CDMA & GSM cellular networks.

The pack will contain:
- X1 antenna
- X1 board
- headsets with microphone
- X2 wires
- X1 32 mega memory stick
The antenna to connect to the local network. On the board will be a switch to switch between CDMA network (without sim card) and the GSM network (with the sim card). The wires are to connect the board and the antenna to the PSP. All will cost approximately more or less than $60

how would it actually interact with the network? I'm no expert but you'd have to program it some how? even if it was gsm and what kind of app would you use to dial and how does the psp interact with the hardware? shouldn't there be some sort of control interaction? if not why not just make a really small cell phonenad keep the psp out of it? I just don't get it. you'd have to elabourate. but if i'm missing something. I'm real sorry agian I'm no expert.Keep it real

cool! handphone on ur PSP! but i wonder how's the battery life. (sure totally sucks~) I rather having one handphone with camera and a PSP. XD
the only good thing that would be useful from this is internet on the psp anywhere
GPS.... How... i saw a post a while aback but it was a lot of shit to carry around and couldnt really find any info on how to set uit up( dont mind all the extra stuff if its in my car ect....please post a link or something that i can set it up of off....THANKS!!!ophh and very cool with the cell lol ;)
well i got firmware 0.1 its gotta hidden device on system settings its a setting so if u enabled it u cud signal the army 2 send misiles n blow up parts of iraq but u need 2 use psp gps 2 get the right position lol

just wondering, so i can see how it would work with gsm but since cdma like verizon uses esn # for it to work, would you program the esn to the psPhone? if so wouldnt that be like a huge security risk for companys like verizon? being able to access the network with anyones esn? just a thought still a really cool idea, imagine calling your friends psp to tell em to get on so you can race em on a game or something. amazing!

Ok first of all I'd like to just say that his crappy camera isnt the point, so let it go people. Overall its a pretty sweet concept though. Redundent?? sure. Does it matter?? nope, its all about seeing what that little beasts hardware is capable of.So if this is for real, good job Lior. Looking forward to a follow up on the project.
