Hello World on Firmware 2.01 and 2.50!
psp3d are reporting on successfully running unsigned code on firmware versions 2.01 and 2.50 via the hacked save game file for GTA:LCS released by Edison Carter. This is a huge breakthrough for 2.01/2.50 firmware users!
Hello World for 2.01/2.5 PSPs has now been released by Fanjita. Using Edison Carter's GTA cheat machine, Fanjita has successfully found a way to load custom code on firmwares 2.XX of the PSP, through a savegame exploit/glitch in GTA.
This program he has compiled successfully demonstrates how to run the Hello World homebrew application on 2.01/2.5 PSPs (which prooves external code launching on 2.XX). In the future, expect things such as an EBOOT loader and more soon!

Note that you will need a copy of GTA: LCS in order for you to run this hack! So go out and buy your copy today (heh, Sony should be seeing a lot of profits).

yeah this is good news, Hello world only tho, why post it if there is no real application running on v2.XXand if we can get a EBOOT running in GTA save file we could some how exploit it like the old overflow.tif so that you dont even need a copy of GTA:LCS to load a save file, there must be a way to something like this in the existing firmware like a hack to exicute the contents of a save file and run under the v2.XX, if it can be done in gave surely it would apply to out of game say in a tamperd EBOOT v2.6 firmware and if we can finally get a compiled custom firmware, we could launch via gta:lcs and wham boom psp hacked wide open after al sony cant upgrad to new psp to a higher firmware that wont run there own games, so would allways have a way to modify files, so we could be a step closer to sticking one finger up to those pen pushers at sony HQ

ISO's on 2.00 nope sorry runs in user mode and is even more restricted than the tiff exploit even a downgrader seems impossible atm

Fanjita should wait on the exploit on 3.0 firmware. This will be more usefull as we are eventually goign to ahve to crack it than....jsut wait so sony doesnt fix it.
why wait untill v3.00 the same will happen plus all the good games now run under v2.00 so most people are sorted untill gat: VCS or some shit port/ripoff

nope it dosnt work on multiplayer. i tried it. when you through the multiplayer menu it just puts you back to the start of the menu. so you cant actually get into multiplayer
NOTE:the traditional downgrader changes the version number to 1.00 so you can install 1.50 over 2.00This technique will not be possible on 2.01+.From what i know, it is encrypted and i have heard rumours that the location of the version number is different (possibly incorperated into a system file).
It's things like this make me want to wander back to simpler times of the Atari 2600. The atari 2600 did not boast about polgyons per second, firmware updates, region lockouts, imported vs. local games, and rabid 14 year olds bragging about who has the best sytem.

sony will run out of GTA when this works.. and they'll produce patched GTA UMD ...
So if an iso loader was released I could load the iso using gta and play the iso of GTA. Quite the breakthrough...No reason to upgrade except codecs which looks to be coming along, slowly albeit, but coming salong nonetheless.
